This book is about a boy called Callum Hunt. He got picked to go and trial for the Magisterium. Magisterium is a school that teaches magic. His father doesn't want him to trial for it because he thinks they killed his mum. So his dad told him to do his worst on the tests. When he goes there the first test was on a general knowledge test. There was a pen where he had to shake the pen to get the ink going. He shaked it but the ink wasn't coming out and then he shaked it really hard and all the ink squirted on everyone. Then on the next test it was a fitness test. You had to climb up a ladder that kept on moving and get the ball of the top. He had a foot problem since he was young so he couldn't do that one anyway. On the next test he done that same thing as he did on the first. On the decision day him and his dad waited on the bleachers thinking that he wouldn't get in. Then his name got called out on the first group along with Aaron and Tamara. Everyone was shocked.

I recommend this book for people who like science fiction books. I rate this book a 9/10

This book was really interesting and fun to read.
